What machines do you need to produce pellets?

The year 2022/2023 includes, among others: a very large increase in energy and heating prices. Due to this situation, interest in the production of pellets has increased. We receive many inquiries from you about pellet machines, both for own needs and for mass production, which allow you to use waste. Therefore, we decided to expand our offer with several new models of pellet machines from Optimat.

For smaller plants, we offer machines with small dimensions, simple construction and very easy operation, which include, among others, models below

– Pellet feed granulator Optimat PP300PRO with Housing 300 kg/h – Ø200 mm
– Industrial Pellet Feed Pellet Granulator Optimat PP260PRO PLUS with Housing 250kg/h – Ø229 mm
– Industrial Pellet Feed Pellet Granulator Optimat PP360PRO PLUS with Housing 350kg/h – Ø229 mm

Construction of the pellet machine

The material is poured into a special funnel, which is attached to the top of the machine. Below the hopper there are movable toothed rollers, and a special matrix with holes is placed under them, in which the sawdust is subjected to high pressure and temperature (60-80 degrees), resulting in the formation of granulate. On the side there is an opening with a discharge chute. From this chute, the finished material comes out, which after drying can be poured directly into the bags. The size of the finished pellet depends on the size of the holes in the matrix (usually they are 6mm or 8mm in diameter).

What is the performance of the machine?

Machine performance is one of the most frequently asked questions. Well, it depends primarily on the type of material used (its moisture, viscosity, degree of fragmentation, etc.), as well as on the power of the installed engine, the appropriate selection of the die for the raw material, etc.

What raw material?

For this type of carpentry machines, you can use:

  • sawdust of coniferous and deciduous trees,
  • straw and hay biomass,
  • grain waste,
  • plastic waste,
  • loose feed.

Pellet material must be properly dried. Its humidity should not exceed 18%. If the sawdust is too moist, the pellets will fall apart.

Pellet production lines

The pellet line consists of complete sets of machines, which include, among others, various types of pellet mills, crushers, screens, tanks, feeders, dryers, etc.

The purchase of specialized lines is mainly decided by large, large-scale production plants.
Their purchase and maintenance is very expensive, but the big advantage is high efficiency, thanks to which these costs will pay off quickly.
