How does a veneer splicer work? Construction and application

Thread stitcher – operates on the principle of longitudinal joining of veneers using a thread in a so-called zigzag. Glue splicer – unlike the thread splicer, this method involves joining veneers without using threads. The binder is urea glue. It is applied to the edge of the processed material. The splicer joins smooth veneer end-on. Urea glue bonding is mainly used in the production process exposed to high temperatures and tensile forces, e.g. longitudinal gluing of profile strips, as well as gluing in membrane presses.

Some machines have a built-in glue application unit, while in older models the glue is applied by a separate machine. The construction of a glue splicer is more complicated than that of a stitcher.
